7 Main Tenets Of Self-Growth
CredoForLife : Personal growth- We can define a tenet as; “A principle, belief, or doctrine generally held to be true.” For example; It is universally accepted that plants need sunlight and water to flourish and grow properly. These principles allow us to shape the cultivation of gardens and create safe havens for wildlife around the world.
When it comes to “personal growth,” we must abide by similar principles in order to avoid stagnation.
Here are the 7 Tenets:

No 1. Reshape Your Perception
When a tree or a flower is healthy and confident, it stands proud and tall. It glories in its beauty as it basks in the sun. Similarly, if we feel good about ourselves, we present that same confidence.
To grow stably, you must eliminate your negative self-perception. You must see yourself as capable, valuable, and highly skilled. By doing so, you will start to behave in a manner that aligns beautifully with your self-conceptions.
No 2. Embrace New Concepts
To continue with the botanical analogy; when a plant begins to wither, even when provided with water and light, it may be because it is unhappy in its present environment. If you were to move it to another part of the garden, it might begin to thrive again.
In the same way, if we ourselves were never to embrace anything new, we will become stagnant in our outlook and thinking.
There is much to be discovered from trying new things, meeting new people, and immersing yourself in a new culture.
No 3. Challenge Yourself – Sit in Discomfort!
The most significant gains come from experiencing extreme discomfort. When we start a new exercise routine, typically the first few sessions will be challenging. We may experience discouragement, pain, and even temptation. However, as you push through the discomfort and anxiety, you will achieve that sought after muscle growth!
In a similar manner, when we are forced to fight our way through obstacles, by doing so, we are strengthening our inner being. The easiest option is to give up and walk away from something painful. However, where is the growth in that? What are you learning? In essence, you are inhibiting your own evolution. In every challenging situation, there is an important and valuable lesson. Tough it out, and you’ll begin to see a strength you never thought you had.
No 4. Eliminate those Toxic Relationships
Continuing with our plant analogy, when plants have dead leaves or weeds growing in their plot, the rot and neglect tend to move upward; thus, crippling the plant. Gardeners must clip away the dead ends to protect the prosperity of the plant.
If you allow unhealthy individuals into your life, their bad habits may eventually rub off on you. These individuals won’t encourage you to leave behind your old habits or broaden your mind. Have the courage to consider who in your life is toxic and escape from them as soon as you can!
No 5. Accept What You Cannot Control
When a terrible storm blows, plants in a garden cannot pick up their roots and run for shelter. Instead, they have to “ride out” the tempest and deal with what is to come. In our own lives, we encounter situations that are outside our control. We can try our best to manipulate the conditions, but that ultimately leaves us with anxiety.
To thrive and flourish, we have to accept people, and situations for who and what they are. We are only in control of how we react and we must learn to regulate our emotions and then embrace spontaneity.
No 6. Shun Inactivity
It is easy to become stagnant while waiting for an opportunity to arise. Desires only turn into reality through taking consistent action. If there is something you wish to do, eliminate unnecessary procrastination and start to create. Accomplish the goals on your list without making those “excuses.” In doing so, you will see what you are truly capable of achieving.
No 7: Nurture Yourself Completely!
Flowers and plants require care from outside sources to survive. We as humans can nurture ourselves through self-administered care. Assign just a few minutes of each day to your self-fulfillment. Indulge in an activity you love, pamper yourself, or take a moment to relax. You will restore your energy without having a meltdown!
Growth is a beautiful part of life as it challenges our mind and body to perform in surprising ways. Embrace growth and never fear the endless possibilities associated with it. Soon, you will appreciate the time and care directed towards your self-improvement and personal growth.
